2017 HOME Rental Development and National Housing Trust Fund Awards

TOPEKA –- (RealEstateRama) — As of the February 6, 2017 application deadline, KHRC had received nine applications for HOME Rental Development funds, and nineteen applications for the National Housing Trust Fund (HTF). Deferred-payment loans from these two Federal programs will assist in the development of affordable rental housing for low income Kansas families and individuals. HTF funds will serve extremely low-income individuals and families.

  • HTF Requests: $7,800,000
  • HOME Requests: $4,175,000

HOME and HTF applications were reviewed simultaneously with 2017 Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) applications.  All but two proposals had LIHTC equity as a necessary source of funding.

KHRC has offered loans to nine developments, a total of $4,917,000. Two of the developments will receive both HTF and HOME funds. HOME awards to those two were adjusted upward, and HTF awards reduced, to allow the best overall distribution of HTF funds among the other applicants.
