RECOVERY ACT FUNDS TO BUILD AFFORDABLE HOUSING IN CHANUTE

Tax Credit Exchange Program Awards $4.3 Million for Housing Complex in
Disaster-Impacted Community. Chanute, KS – Kansas Housing Resources Corporation (KHRC) has awarded nearly $4.3 million in Recovery Act funds to help finance the construction of 42 energy-efficient, affordable apartments in Chanute. The disaster-affected community had nearly 75 homes and a sizable number of local businesses damaged by flooding in 2007.

DOE Delivers Nearly $23 Million in Weatherization Funding to Kansas

Kansas to Receive $23 Million in Recovery Act Funds to Create Jobs, Provide Affordable Housing

Topeka, KS - June 3, 2009 - (RealEstateRama) — The U.S. Department of Treasury has announced Kansas will receive $23 million in federal stimulus funds to support the construction, acquisition and/or rehabilitation of affordable rental housing. The monies will be distributed under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Recovery Act) to help create jobs and ease pressures on the housing market. $336 million will go to the first group of recipients - Kansas, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, and Puerto Rico.
