KANSAS HOUSING RELEASES 2011 ANNUAL REPORT

TOPEKA, KS – February 8, 2012 – (RealEstateRama) — Kansas Housing Resources Corporation (KHRC) is pleased to release its annual report for Fiscal Year 2011.┬а The report, which covers the Corporation’s achievements from July 1st, 2010 to June 30th, 2011, highlights the many ways KHRC contributes to the economy, strengthens communities and helps families achieve self-sufficiency.

“We credit our extensive network of housing partners for the accomplishments featured in this report, and we thank our partners for their tireless dedication serving the citizens of Kansas,” said Dennis L. Mesa, Executive Director of KHRC. ”

Some of the achievements highlighted in the FY2011 Annual Report include:

  • Investing over $59 million in ten-year Housing Tax Credits and $2.4 million in HOME funds to finance the construction of 502 affordable rental units.
  • Ensuring that 19,000 Kansas households meet HUD safety standards.
  • Weatherizing 5,500 homes in 102 Kansas counties.
  • Replacing 3,400 dangerous and inefficient furnaces.
  • Leveraging $7.9 million in first mortgage funds to help 97 Kansans become first-time homeowners.
  • Helping over 1,500 households prevent homelessness.┬а
