12th Annual Statewide Summit on Homelessness and Housing “Making it Crystal Clear: Homelessness in Kansas”

March 31, 2011 – (RealEstateRama) — Kansas Statewide Homeless Coalition is convening its 12th Annual Statewide Summit on Homelessness and Housing April 12-13, 2011 in Hutchinson, Kansas at the Ramada Conference Center, starting at 4:30 pm on the 12th through 5 pm on the 13th. The theme is “Making it Crystal Clear: Homelessness in Kansas”

The featured keynote speaker is Nan Roman, Executive Director of the National Alliance to End Homelessness. The official release of the Kansas Statewide Point-in-Time Count results from the January 2011 count will be presented by a panel of statewide Continuum of Care representatives. Kansas officials from the Veterans Administration, Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services, Kansas Department of Corrections, Kansas Housing Resources Corporation, Kansas State Department of Education, and Wichita State University will present workshops, along with local government officials, homeless services providers, homeless / formerly homeless individuals and faith-based representatives. State and local information tables will provide educational materials. Technical assistance from Regional HUD, Kansas Statewide Homeless Coalition, Kansas Housing Resources Corporation and Mid America Assistance Coalition will be offered to grantees and prospective grantees from the Balance of State counties in conjunction with the Summit on April 12. A Community Reception will be held on Tuesday evening, April 12 from 5:30 -7 at the Ramada Conference Center. The public is welcomed and encouraged to attend the Summit and the Community Reception.

There is a small registration fee of only $25 to attend the conference, with most meals provided. CEU’s can be earned with a small processing fee of $10. An evening reception on 10/21/09 (4:30 pm to 6:30 pm) will offer an opportunity to meet and talk with the national, state and local speakers and KSHC Board members.
